History

It all began in 2013 in a science class at the Museum of Arts and Sciences . Where we were told that we were going to enter a robotics competition called SeaPerch.  At the regional SeaPerch competition, we amazingly won second place overall in the Middle School class. Our win then qualified us for the national competition in Indianapolis, Indiana. At the national competition we took third place in the Deep Water Challenge.

When we returned home from the SeaPerch challenge we wanted to do something more complicated. So we spoke with the Embry-Riddle Robotics Association team to ask about other competitions. They told us about the Robosub competion, but it was only for high school and college teams. After speaking with them we contacted AUVSI asking for permission to enter the competition. Finally we were given special permission to be the first Middle School team to ever compete in Robosub.

Over 6 weeks we created a functional sub to enter the competition. We were able to go through the qualification gate on the first attempt and made it to the semi-finals. In the end we received the Biggest Bang for the Buck award.

Last year , 2014 , we went to the IEEE Daytona section meeting and presented our team and our robot to them and tell them about our robosub goals. Also this year we went back to the SeaPerch regional competition and finished first place overall in Middle School class. Then we were invited to the national competition in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. In nationals we took third place overall for Middle School.

We finished Robosub 2014 with 11th place out of 39 College/ high-school teams. Our biggest accomplishment during Robosub 2014 was being one of the three teams who circumnavigated the gate. The other teams that accomplished this were large colleges such as Cornell University.

This year we have decided to change competitions, instead of being underwater we will be on top of the water. So instead of going to Robosub again this year we will go to Roboboat. We finished Roboboat with fourth place leaving 11 other teams behind in the finals.
